I was so happy to finally have my daughter Alex join us for the annual event. She is older now and has expressed an interest
in her heritage, and the festivities and attention paid to LP200 made her proud. We chose not to make the walk from San Gabriel
and arrived at the plaza in time for the ceremonial crossing of Alameda street. Terri took pictures and it was the first
time the whole family was together celebrating the founding of Los Angeles.

Hanging out at the plaza stage for the event is always fun. Tourists come here year-round to visit the adjacent Olvera
street where LP200 members and their families normally have lunch at Las Anitas afterwards -- family, fun, and food! I was
happy to have been asked by Rose to give a small speech and I spoke about the importance of instilling a sense of heritage
in our children in which our diversities are respected and our individual contributions are appreciated for building
strong communities.
